Equal Pay Act 1970

The main purpose of the Equal Pay Act 1970 is to ensure that men and women in the same employment are paid equally when doing the same work, work rated as equivalent under an analytical job evaluation study or work that is proved to be of equal value. The Act aimed to improve the position of women in employment by making it unlawful to discriminate between men and women.
