Disability Discrimination Act 1995

The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 aimed to end discrimination against disabled people by providing them with relevant information and helping them achieve fairer treatment in the provision of goods, services, employment, education, transport and housing. This Act has been significantly extended and now requires public bodies to promote equality of opportunity for disabled people. It also allows the government to set minimum standards so that disabled people can use public transport easily.

The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 was amended by The Disability Discrimination Act 2005 (DDA 2005). This Act builds on and extends earlier disability discrimination legislation, principally the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
