Carers (Equal Opportunities) Act 2004/ Carers (Recognition and Services) Act 1995


The Carers (Equal Opportunities) Act 2004 places a duty on local authorities to inform carers of their entitlement to a Carers Assessment and ensures that the carer’s needs for education, training, employment and leisure are assessed and supported. The Carers (Recognition & Services) Act 1995 recognises the role of the informal carer and provides for the assessment of the ability of carers to provide appropriate, adequate and sufficient care.
